I went to your emotional intelligence training at PPNYC and wanted to let you know that I found it ridiculously helpful and find myself saying "what would BK say?" whenever I'm looking for the emotionally intelligent thing to say to a youth.
Karen is a wonderful speaker who speaks openly and honestly. It was wonderful to finally be provided with tools for active listening and being empathetic rather than just understanding the definitions of these tools.
This was the highlight of my conference experience. The ability of the presenters to quickly articulate their material and engage participants from the outset was outstanding. The material was thought-provoking. I left with not just a different view of not only my LGBTQ clients, but all my clients.
BK, you have the uncanny ability to lead without the listener knowing she or he is being led. Learning is as it should be when that happens.
Very skilled. Great language. Appreciate your mindfulness approach. I really enjoyed the emphasis on the anti-oppression framework and sex-positive nature of sexual health education. It added a lot of context to teaching sex ed.
“There is so much depth and richness [in Karen BK Chan's interview]. She is such a masterful communicator ... I've been a therapist for 20 years and Karen teaches me something every time.”
I just wanted to extend my gratitude & appreciation... You were able to connect and communicate to the students in a way that was refreshing and relatable. You created an open and inclusive environment that facilitated an impactful experience.
This session stayed with me for days. The presenters were fantastic and handled the subject matter in a very inclusive way. I have discussed the issues raised with several colleagues, friends and family and presented a summary of the session to my firm.
Fresh! Honest! Excellent material delivered with power and grace.
What I like the most was the openness and honesty of the instructor, the relaxed vibe, the playfulness and non-judgemental rules.
Thank you for your wisdom, your tone of voice. Your experience really shined through.
The students loved it. I still have students telling me that this was by far the best workshop they've attended, and that your attitude, personality and the delivery were what made it great.
Felt very comfortable. I came in thinking I wouldn't talk and talked most of the time. Felt great to be able to share in an open non-biased place.
Very well balanced between content and engagement; very good at appraising and asking what the group needed! Well done!
It was amazing for me to be given permission to not treat consent in a static black and white manner, but as an ever-changing grey area. I loved this!
Well done, well organized and delivered. Immediately useful.
Excellent, dynamic presenter. Very knowledgeable. Makes group feel relaxed & comfortable. Terrific activities. Easy to implement in the classroom. Thank you!
Karen and Christine are dedicated professionals who have worked out a sensitive and non judgmental approach to what can be a highly volatile issue especially for separating families and their children caught in the middle.
I loved Karen's tone and pace. We could choose not to go too far into discomfort (I felt secure).
