OAN CONFLICT RESOLUTION WORKSHOP May 7, 2025

Conflict Scenario 2
Generational & Cultural Tensions

Background:
Arthur is a respected long-term employee with deep community connections through traditional HIV prevention methods. Mik is a new hire who advocates for digital outreach via Instagram, TikTok, and peer influencers. Arthur feels Mik is dismissing his experience, while Mik feels Arthur is undermining their fresh ideas, and that it is in part ageism and racism.
You, the middle manager, have noticed tension rising in team meetings. The two rarely collaborate and their conflict is beginning to affect morale.

Roles:
Role A: Arthur (long-term staff)
Role B: Mik (new staff member)
Role C: Middle Manager (facilitator of team cohesion)
Role D: Observer(s)
