GP MICROAGGRESSIONS - CASE 2
Faisa is a senior associate at the firm. She is attending a Zoom hearing with her junior, Ellis Baig. Ellis is non-binary, and uses they/them pronouns which are displayed on their Zoom handle. The morning went well, and now everyone is logging back in after lunch. Ellis is late returning, as they are stuck on another call. The arbitrator, eager to get started, asks about Ellis' whereabouts, inquiring about "Mr. Baig", rapidly lurching to "Ms. Baig", and then muttering something that sounds like, "who even knows these days."
- How would you respond if you were Faisa?
- Would your response be different if Ellis had been present for the arbitrator's attempt to address them?
